After sixteen years in Brazil, the German sociologist and researcher Titus Riedl has a collection of 5,000 paintings made on photographs. Produced between 1950 and 1990, these works which are typical of popular culture, especially in cities of the countryside of the Brazilian Northeast, were acquired in the region around Juazeiro do Norte, in Ceará. Part of the collection may be checked out at this exhibition, with 150 items carefully chosen by the São Paulo curator and photographer, Eder Chiodetto. In this curious selection, we see items of variable quality, ranging from delicate and realistic strokes to cruder figures, like posters or caricatures.
