SCENOGRAPH

INTRODUCTION

Galeria Estação is pleased to announce its participation in The Armory Show, at the Javits Center (NY), from September 8 to 11. For the occasion, the gallery presents a set of works by the Brazilian artists Santídio Pereira (1996, Piauí, Brazil) and Amadeo Luciano Lorenzato (1900-1995, Minas Gerais, Brazil). The aim is to establish a dialogue between the contemporary work of Santídio and the modernist art of Lorenzato, bringing aspects that not only demonstrate the importance of each of them, but also promote Brazilian multiculturalism internationally.

Santídio Pereira is a young Brazilian artist, whose research is focused on experimentation in woodcutting, which enters the iconographic universes of the traditional Brazilian fauna and flora. The artist worked to raise the level of complexity of this very traditional support, attributing new technical and conceptual skills to its processes. His work presents a scheme of colors and formats, which both reflect the sophistication of his experimentation and express Brazilian popular culture and doings. Lorenzato, on the other hand, is recognized as one of the biggest names in Brazilian Modern Art. His compositions present an intense technical rigor, while bring together simple, spontaneous and profound strokes, demonstrating a genuine minimalism in the representation of ordinary scenes of Brazilian life and scenarios.
